From Mhamid to Erg Bougarne
Tour Plan
1
Day 1: M'hamid --> Erg Bougarne
Departure at morning, after breakfast, with a caravan of camels and nomadic people. We cross the Valley of Drâa, where there is no more water. We spend the lunch in the shade of tamarisk trees. The afternoon continues through a stony landscape until we reach the Bougarne dunes. We set up the camp and enjoy the evening.
2
Day 2 : Erg Bougarne --> Erg Esmar
We cross Sidi Tayeb, a place with tamarisks, in order to reach Erg Esmar, where there are the remains of an ancient nomadic village and a well for refreshment.
3
Day 3 : Erg Esmar --> Erg Zahar
We cross the Drâa valley to get to the great Zahar dunes, walking only in the morning but for long enough to reach the dunes and enjoy the magnificent panorama. The Algerian border can be seen in the distance. In the afternoon, we enjoy a pleasant rest in the dunes.
4
Day 4 : Erg Zahar --> Sidi Naji
We cross the entire Bousnina reg to reach Sidi Naji in the afternoon, where the tombs of an ancient saint have become a place of pilgrimage for nomads.
5
Day 5 : Sidi Naji --> M'hamid el Ghizlane
Back on the road towards M'Hamid for lunch. Before arriving in M'Hamid, we visit the ancient kasbah of M'Hamid and the palm grove.

Hassan is a very kind person, he made me feel very welcome!
The desert was so much fun!!!!
They really make you feel at home. Hassan, his friends and I went to dessert. No words can describe the Sahara. As they always said, you have to experience dessert to fully understand it 😉!
I ate very good meals with them, home-cooked by the nomads.
Thank you very much Hassan for all your help, for the discussions, for your hospitality
and I will return to visit the desert again.
Thank you very much for everything and I will come back, hopefully very soon!

Amazing stay in the desert with the nomads. Nothing better than going on a trek of several days to discover the culture and landscape. It was really great ! Thanks to Hassan and the whole team 🙂
